Summary
I help established owner-led businesses make growth easier to manage by fixing the operating design behind their processes, systems, data and technology.
When a business has grown quickly, acquired another company or reached the point where every decision still comes back to the owner, technology is rarely the whole problem. The issue is usually how the business now works. I diagnose where complexity is slowing decisions, increasing cost or restricting capacity, then design and lead practical change that makes the business simpler to run and easier to scale.
My work spans business transformation, digital strategy, technology leadership, system optimisation, AI readiness, automation, CRM and ERP change, post-acquisition integration and recovery of troubled programmes. I operate as a Fractional CTO, transformation lead or board adviser for businesses that do not need a full-time technology executive, but do need senior judgement and delivery ownership.
I bring 30+ years’ experience across technology and business change, including 28 years with IBM and senior transformation leadership at SGN. I have led global software teams, built governance and delivery structures, integrated acquired businesses, recovered failing programmes and delivered operational cost reductions, including reducing operational costs by 40% through process, systems and delivery improvement.
I work best with UK businesses of around 10–200 employees, particularly those experiencing growth, operational complexity, acquisition, technology change or AI adoption. Typical triggers include growth slowing, manual work increasing, disconnected systems, unclear data, owner dependency or major system decisions that need proper diagnosis before investment.
I'm looking to support businesses in a NED and advisory capacity, alongside selected Fractional CTO, Fractional CIO, board advisory and transformation leadership roles. My focus is on helping boards, founders, MDs, COOs and CFOs decide what to fix first, reduce unnecessary cost and create the capacity needed for the next stage of growth.
