Reently I wrote a post (er hum, for another platform, but lets keep that to ourselves) about professional rejection. It got me thinking about the roots of my relationship with rejection.
I didn’t grow up in a nurturing environment. My childhood was shaped by 'never being good enough'. The impact on adult life was profound.
- I couldn’t take feedback.
- I avoided anything that might lead to failure.
- I became an exhausted people-pleaser, working tirelessly to perfect everything.

Deal with your demons, or you’ll carry them through life. When they ultimately collide with something like professional rejection, the pain is, in all honesty, derailing.
Like hearing:
– Not everyone has what it takes to work in this environment.
– It's going to take you longer than the others.
– We had better-qualified candidates.
– We preferred the other facilitator.
– I’ve opted for another coach.
– I wasn’t wowed by it, to be honest.
– You're not in the talent box yet, but keep going.
What’s changed for me?
I committed to building resilience.
I embraced a growth mindset.
I've done the inner work and continue to do it.
Now, I help others do the same. And that’s the most fulfilling part.💜
Have you experienced this too?
